What a hectic time the last six weeks have been!
We would just like to thank all our clients for bearing with us during this time as we have worked our way through the many changes in the stimulus packages and also the new legislation that came with the JobKeeper package – sometimes it felt like we were getting updates on a daily basis.
All the business’s that requested we complete their JobKeeper registrations on their behalf, have now been lodged if they were eligible for the April 2020 payment. You will be receiving a receipt of this registration and a disclaimer in the next couple of days by email.
If you did not meet the requirements for the April 2020 payment you may still be eligible for the May 2020 payment or future months until September 2020. If you can show a downturn of at least 30% for May 2020 compared to the relevant period in May 2019 please contact us to discuss eligibility.
For businesses that have registered for JobKeeper themselves, please ensure you have completed all the steps that were updated on the ATO website on 3 May 2020. This included identifying and confirming that you have paid your eligible employees $3000.00 in wages ($1500.00 for the fortnight ended 12 April 2020 and $1500.00 for the fortnight ended 26 April 2020) (Step 2 on ATO website) and make a monthly business declaration where you input your actual turnover for April 2020 and an estimate for May 2020 (Step 3 on ATO website).
Moving forward all businesses that we complete their registration for will receive a document at the end of each month to complete. On this document you will have to declare your actual turnover for the relevant month and an estimate for the following month and also confirm that you have paid your eligible employees $1500.00 in wages for each fortnight.
Please be aware that unlike April where the ATO granted an extension for the time to pay the employees the first two fortnight wages, this is not going to happen in May. The first fortnight for May ends on 10 May 2020. This means that all employees have to have been paid $1500.00 by this date and then another $1500.00 by 24 May 2020.
